GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP VIOLIN WESTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY, dedicated to
diversity and the fine arts, has designated an assistantship for a graduate violinist entering the two-year Master of Music program. The Graduate Assistant will perform will perform alongside faculty in the Julstrom String Quartet and in the University Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.
The faculty quartet members are professors Julieta Mihai, violin, Istvan Szabo, viola, and MoĆses Molina, cello. In addition, the student will perform duties as assigned by Dr. Richard Hughey, WIU Director of Orchestral Activites.
Assistantship Award:
1.FULL TUITION WAIVER
Tuition waiver (in state):$4272/year
Tuition waiver (out-of-state): $8544/year
2. 2/3 Assistantship – 8 Month Contract
$587/month stipend, total: $4696/ year
Application Requirements:
1. Bachelors degree or equivalent.
2. Live audition (preferred) or a video of the candidate performing two contrasting works, including the first movement of a major concerto. DVD or video cassette is acceptable.

5. Official academic records sent directly from each school attended. If not in English, please provide a certified English translation.

Currently there is one viola opening. Candidates will need the following to apply:
